This workshop takes algae-derived sheets and mycelium-based specimens from a material innovation laboratory in Bandung, Indonesia as its starting point — exploring alternative logics of growth, interdependence, cycles, and resilience in design.

Drawing on Research-through-Design as an epistemic practice, participants are invited to engage in a dialogue with these materials as thinking partners. What does a mycelial network suggest about community agency? What does an algae sheet propose about where design knowledge comes from?

Through a sequence of structured material encounters, the session moves between tactile attention, speculative inquiry, and collective reflection. The workshop extends the keynote's field report into materiality and the hands of participants, asking what eco-social design might look like when we learn from living systems.
